1/28/2024 0 Comments Rogue legacy controlsFor maximum enjoyment I recommend using a gamepad. Additionally Upgrades and Power will keep your motivation up try to beat the castle. A roguelike mixed with Metroidvania influences doesnt sound too novel these days, but back in 2013 Rogue Legacy showed just how well the genres could work with each other. Retro style, humor, platforming and NG+, with more difficult enemies, await you in this game. If however you are into challenging games this game is the right choice. If you are easily frustrated by dying and achieving nothing you should avoid Rogue Legacy. The keyboard controls are a dull therefore playing with a gamepad is recommended. The bosses get repetitive fast and are easy to beat. The only negative points are the bosses and keyboard controls. This way you always want to do just “one” last run to get more power. Getting new weapons and powers is the best reward for a run through the dungeon. However the main goal in my opinion is the customization of your hero. After beating the game you enter “New Game Plus (NG+)” where enemies get more health and new patterns. This allows the castle to be interesting and not repetitive even after your 100st run. Additionally each time you enter the castle after dying it rearranges the layout. Incorporating these “traits” gives you a different experience with the new Hero. It also has a strange humor by giving your hero strange “traits”. The game tries to incorporate the feeling of playing old games like Castlevania and does a decent job at that. Each time you enter the castle after dying it rearranges the layout to keep it interesting. You also get to keep the gold from your previous tries to by upgrades, abilities and weapons. If you die inside the castle you can choose your successor out of 3 children to continue your journey. Spin kick you can just do with down-space, it doesnt need shift too. (I actually use two button dash on w and e and relegate up to f, weird key to hit for up but youll get used to it) Talent gets shift. It is a “rogue-like” game meaning that you will have a lot of deaths. You only use up for a few classes with 'aimed' attacks so e is fine for it. It resolves around fighting your way through a castle with monsters, traps and 5 bosses to find the fountain of youth. Rogue Legacy is a 2D retro indie-platformer developed by Cellar door games for PC, Mac and Linux. What is it worth to die for? Fame and glory or rather the money found in the castle? Is it really endless farming for better upgrades or does the game offer something else? Find out in this short review! Rogue Legacy – A dreadful heritage Prepare to die a lot to beat this unforgiving castle!
